Phenobarbital
- Marisa- Marisa has been on this since she was 1 month old. She had started out taking 4 cc twice a day of the phenobarbitol liquid. The nurses always commented on how much Marisa amazed them, because they never saw a child suck the phenobarbitol out of the syringe since it is so bitter. Shortly after her first birthday we switched Marisa to the phenobarbitol tablets, because she began choking on the liquid because we had increased the amount to 11cc twice a day. Marisa began taking 15mg of the phenobarbitol tablets. We would just put the tablet into some water and the pill would dissolve.
- Kelly- Kelly has also been on Phenabarbatol . We had a horrible time getting her to take it. Her seizure control was not very good either. She had at least five per day on this medicine. We each as parents have to decide what is best for our children (healthy or not). Sometimes it is hard to tell what the best thing is. Sometimes we have to decide between the lesser of two evils. All any of us can do is try to be informed as we can about our choices and pray in the end that we have made the right decision. Stacey Gantt
