Lamictal

  • Anna- Regarding Lamictal, our experience with it was a disaster. Anna (11 at the time) was on no other meds except Ativan (lorazepam) on an occasional basis, and had been off daily drugs for some time, but we determined that some intervention was necessary as her tonic/clonic and other seizures had become daily events. We and our neuro agreed that Lamictal was an obvious drug to try.
  • Kelly- Lamictal has been a wonderful medicine for Kelly. It is a small pill, so she takes it with no problems. They have it in chewable form now. She only has one seizure a month on it right now. Stacey Gantt
  • Marisa- Lamictal - In April 2002 we had decided to wean Marisa from the phenobarbitol and put her on lamictal. She started off with taking 25 mgs in the morning and 25 mgs at night. Even though the medication wasn't controlling Marisa's seizures we noticed a considerable change in Marisa's attitude. She was alert, talkative, and active with this medication and even was a little too hyper at night!!!
  • Sheila- Sheila started Lamictal at age 15. While I think that part of the problems she had with it came from starting with too big a dose. Sheila had a horrible experience.
