Topamax - Marisa has been on this since she was 4 months old, and it has been our "miracle drug". Marisa went from having 80 + seizures a day to going weeks without seizures. Marisa had been on 62.5mgs of topamax tablets for a long time. In October 2000 we found out that the topamax had caused her to have some kidney stones. Marisa had her tonsils and adenoids removed and was refusing to eat. After we got her to the hospital and she was started on IV fluids she then refused to void, we were sent down for an ultrasound. The ultrasound didn't look right, so then we had some x-rays done and those still didn't look clear. The doctors then did another test, which I can't remember the name of it, but it showed all of Marisa's veins and organs and that is when they could see the kidney stone. Marisa's seizures began to increase steadily because of the pain that the kidney stone was causing her. Finally in June 2001 the kidney stone was removed, and we haven't had any problems since. In August 2002 we had to increase her topamax because of the increased seizures from weaning of the phenobarbitol, and Marisa is currently taking 75 mgs in the morning and 100 mgs at night.
