Azaria started Zonegran in March (7 weeks ago). She started at 50 mg once a day. After 2 weeks we then started her on Vitamin B6 50 mg twice a day, and increased the Zonegran to 75 mg once a day. We started to seeing Azaria's seizures become less frequent and with less intensity. One week ago Azaria's seizures (almost) completely disappeared. She has gone 3-4 days without a seizure, and when she does have a seizure it is so small and short, lasting maybe 5 seconds (2 jerks). I don't know if it is the Zonegran or Vitamin B6, I think it is both. Azaria has been so alert, she has started smiling again, she laughs and even giggles. We are really enjoying this time with her. It is a wonderful break from the way she was everyday. The good thing about the Zonegran is we were told we can go all the way up to 200mg if we need to. We have not seen any side effects, but we were told it may cause drowsiness. We were told the Zonegran works for infantile spasms, and tonic and clonic seizures, as well as the generalized shaking seizures. I have attached a picture we took of Azaria yesterday. As you can see, she is just happy as can be! She is just a totally different baby. We are so pleased! Even her progress in therapy has improved greatly. We pray that it will last.
