On October 11th 2009, I have decided again to run the Chicago Marathon. This year I will be running to help raise money for Aicardi Syndrome.
For me, participating in this race is a way to prove to myself that with the right amount of planning and effort, I can make a difficult goal achievable. At first, this was strictly a personal goal, which alone can carry many athletes long distances. But now, I have also dedicated my training and race efforts to support Aicardi Syndrome . Helping raise money for this cause makes every mile more meaningful. As many of you know this syndrome hits close to home. About a year ago, my cousin Hope Reichert was diagnosed with Aicardi, this years race will is dedicated to her as well as all the children and families who are affected by this syndrome.
In addition to the finishing the race, I am striving to raise money in support of Aicardi Syndrome. I know that many of you already give to several organizations but please know that any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated. Every dollar truly makes a difference. Donating online is easy, and you can donate now. Please help me honor the people who have been touched by Aicardi, and to bring hope to those currently facing the syndrome.
